Trotter's Top 400 Tracks of the Noughties - Part 1 (301-400)
Here we are then, the start of what was going to be a Top 200, taken from my Top Tens over the years and more besides, but ended up being a tad bigger! This first batch, although it's not at the pointy end, still has some gems nestled in it, and the usual mix of unashamedly glossy pop, controversial picks and fine indie haircuts. And if you don't like, you can at least look forward to 399 tracks better than Starsailor. There's Balham, Sunderland and Brixton's finest, the coolest Keith since Kool Keith, a textbook debut on 'Later...with Jools', one dedication to Yul Brynner, the last decent thing that REM did, at least three bands I said would be bigger than the Beatles, a pair of small and humble breasts not to be confused with mountains, a rockstar pausing to take a leak, Little Boots sounding uncannily like Ginger Spice and (not) coincidentally we start with an 'Intro'. As one act says, this s*** is bananas...
